Special Event Announced: Fenway Park Behind the Scenes
Grab your peanuts and cracker jacks because this year's Polytechnic Summit is taking you behind the scenes at Fenway Park!
Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, is one of the city's most visited landmarks, but you will have the opportunity to tour parts of the Park rarely seen by the public. Donnie Gardiner, the Fenway Park building superintendent and the world's authority on the Park's physical plant, will be our tour guide. Whether you want to know about recycling and energy conservation, life safety issues, how Fenway Park is kept clean, or what it takes to maintain century-old concrete, Mr. Gardiner will show us and tell us the inside story of one of America’s landmark structures. The tour will be combined with a reception at the Bleacher Bar, located under the bleachers with a view of the field. (Note: The Red Sox are playing an away game. Baseball fans can see the Sox host Cleveland on Thursday and Friday nights.)
As many of you know, Wentworth is hosting the sixth annual Polytechnic Summit 2014 on June 11-13. Last year’s successful Summit brought together over 350 attendees, including faculty, students, and administrators, from across the country to share perspectives and initiatives concerning polytechnic education. This year’s conference theme, “Who Moved My Classroom? Rethinking Polytechnic Education,” looks at how polytechnics are contributing and/or responding to the current “disruptive innovation” that is reshaping higher education.
